Is a show that required a suspension of disbelief from its beginning: Michael Schofield gets himself put into the same prison as his brother, and has the facility's blueprints tattooed onto his body. Michael's brother, Lincoln, is on death row, for allegedly committing a murder that's part of a vast government conspiracy, of a man who it turns out isn't really dead. The thing that kept all viewers going along, accepting ongoing obstacles and delays, was the fact that ultimately the prison break-out was going to happen -- it was promised to us in the very title of the show, let alone in the initial promos for the series. And after twenty-one episodes of build-up, Schofield and his crew are finally over the prison wall and on the run in the season finale, 'html' class='autolink' >Flight.'

So what was genius Michael Schofield's big plan after they got out of prison? Apparently it was to wait right by the prison, in the ditch near a K-9 Unit truck, for at least twelve minutes, spoiling any lead time they had and the chance to get out before road blocks had been set up. Next the plan was to madly run through woods to a hidden van, break out its taillights (one of the few really good ideas in this episode), and drive about 10 miles to a private airstrip. The group is unable to get to the airstrip due to the fact that they hung out in a ditch and gave the police time to set up a roadblock, so Michael's big idea is to drive around, which gets the van stuck in the mud. So the group now has to run on foot, which brings the group to a big cliff that none of them knew was there. Somehow they get down the extremely steep cliff to where a shell of a car is sitting. The group finally looks under the hood to find that there isn't even an engine in the car. The escapees run on, eventually finding a barn, where they make plenty of noise to get noticed (thanks to Abruzzi, an axe, and T-Bag's hand). Michael and the group run out of the barn, leaving T-Bag behind. They eventually run onto the airfield, where they see the plane taxiing.

But they're too late, and the plane takes off. As police cars converge on the airfield and officers pile out, Michael reveals the last step of his genius plan: 'We run!' The episode ends as the inmates run into a field, with numerous officers about 20 yards behind them. To say the escape is disappointing to fans of the series is a massive understatement.
